Author Interview: Faith Blum

Major breakthrough, friends…I’M INTERVIEWING A REAL PERSON!

I’m super excited to be a part of my sweet friend and fellow Y-Dubber Faith Blum’s blog tour. Her new book is coming out soon. It’s going to be amazing!

About the Book

Trusting God is hard

Eleanor Miller has never lacked for anything, but she wanted to become a schoolteacher anyway to instill the love of learning into other children. Unlike what happened with her brother, Grover.

Grover hated school and authority. He rebelled any change he could. When he almost killed a man, their family was torn apart and he was disowned.

Eleanor understands her father’s decision, but she worries she will never see Grover again. Will she find out how sweet it is to trust Jesus in everything no matter what happens or will she stop trusting Him completely?

The interview

Hey Faith! So nice to have you here. Could you tell me five interesting facts about yourself?

Hi, Katrina! Thanks for having me. Five interesting facts. Hm, let’s see.

  1. I do not like coffee, either taste or smell.
  2. I have been married for almost five months now. Where does the time fly?
  3. I like to listen to music a lot. And play it.
  4. I play both flute and piano, but prefer piano.
  5. I enjoy writing from the villain’s POV occasionally.

Could you tell me some more about your upcoming book?

Well, you probably already read what it’s about, but I could tell you the background, I suppose.  I wrote two books with Otis Miller in them. He was a minor character in both, but I wanted to explore his background a little more and the best way to start that was to explore his father’s backstory. And thus this novella was born. It is all told from the point of view of Otis’ aunt since she was integral in his father’s life and also Grover did some pretty nasty things that I didn’t want to get into.

What is your favourite spot to write in?

That depends on the draft I’m in. If I’m writing the rough draft by hand, I like to lay on my stomach on a bed. Or sit on a bed or couch with my knees up. If I’m editing from a printed off copy of my book, I like my desk in my office since I have more room there.

What part of the writing process do you dislike?

Marketing. If I could just write and edit, I would gladly do so. But if I want my books to sell, I need to also market. And that can be a big hassle.

Random question: What would be something for each of the five senses (sight, sound, smell, touch, taste) from your book?

Sight: Farm land

Sound: Horses

Smell: Spice Cookies

Touch: Soft cotton

Taste: Tea

’Tis So Sweet is a companion novella to Faith’s next novel, He Hideth My Soul. Faith is excited to announce that He Hideth My Soul will be published on February 26th! And it’s now available for preorder for just $0.99. Reserve your copy today:
