Today I’m trying something different for the first time. My plan is to write a post crammed with writing inspiration every Wednesday. I will include two dialogue prompts, two text prompts, a picture prompt, and a song that inspires me to write.
I hope you enjoy reading this post as much as I enjoyed putting it together. Let me know if one of these prompts tickled your imagination!
“You look like you’ve got a chip on your shoulder.”
“I do. It’s called Johnny. I feed it cookies every once in a while.
“Where on earth have you been?”
“Eh…I went to get burgers?”
“Like five hours ago! I thought you were dead.”
“I ran into a slight difficulty.”
“What kind of difficulty?”
Write a story about a construction worker moonlighting as a night school professor, a pair of red shoes and the letter P.
On your way to work you hear gunshots from a nearby alley. Seconds later, a man dressed in a raincoat comes running out and disappears down the sidewalk. What do you do?
Use this picture to write a short story, a poem or a piece of flash fiction.
Does this piece of music boost your imagination as much as it does mine? What does it make you think of? Write down what you see in your mind’s eye and use it to write a story.
There you have it, friends!
Be sure to let me know what you think of these prompts. I’d love to see what you guys come up with!
